Alberto looks like he just defected from a totalitarian regime and doesn

hahaha.. its the sun behind me.. I apologize.
My issue is that so many students come to me and are desiring a degree from another school -- I often google them online but do not feel qualified to advise on numerous areas and different schools. How do all of you handle this? Any advice appreciated as it happens to me more often than not - likely because I am often given Gen Studies students but that is not really their desire.
I also goggle the other school to see their requirements. I also have them contact the other school they want to attend to make sure of what classes will and will not transfer, and also have them send an unofficial transcript.
Hi Joe - I feel like those students might be better served by a student advising center and not me. ?????
Karen, like you, I look up the other school online. I discuss with the student with stipulation that I do not know for sure so they (the students) need to contact people at the baccalaureate school. Usually, I help them find the contact number or name for the other school online. Sometimes I refer them to someone else at our school who knows the other college such as Dr. Refsland for elementary education at Bluefield State.
I try to help them as much as I can, but it is vital that they contact the other school as well.
Daffy Duck was on one of my course rosters at the beginning of the Fall semester!
I cannot write my name as advisor on a digital form anymore whereas I could write in October.
I do not have access. I believe that other faculty members do.
I don't have access either

Banner for registration will be covered in the afternoon session as well
It is very time consuming to learn about all of those other degrees --it is not my strong suit as I know my field and our degrees, not those of all of these other schools. I feel we should address this issue more as I truly do not feel qualified to advise these students and often if in between class do not have the adequate time to do the research. Dr. Ayersman at one time mentioned letting faculty choose their strong areas -- all are still working but maybe my strong suit is something other than advising. Made sense then and now. All contributing but in areas of strength!
Various financial aid packages are very strict with the students about staying on their program requirements so the paper trail helps with that aspect.
EOC Counselors often knew more about other colleges and transfer than I did.
I agree, Stacy. I too refer students to financial aid to see how a drop will impact financial aid.
Many times students that are going to transfer to another school will need a syllabus to go along with certain classes to send to the other school. Be prepared to help them find them on the internet or intranet.

Easier said than done when they do not know how to take the onus. Just wondering how we might be able to support them better -- ideas????
I may have missed it, but how do I create a digital signature for these forms?

David, Deena allows an email to count for a signature.
